In the year 1989, there was a small paddy and chilli processing unit belonged to the Kothalawala situated at Tudugala junction Dodangoda. The business was carried out at a very small scale merely as a social service.Mr. Aruna kothalawa, being a young under graduate in the faculty of science at the University of Colombo at that time, understood that the business was running at "snail's pace" and decided to convert it to a commercially viable venture.Thereafter, the business was expand step by step introducing a Variety of products and modern technology.The new ground spices formulations were introduced to the market and the distribution network was widened. As a result, the demand of Wijaya products increased rapidly.As a young entrepreneur, he realized the future market trends for the wijaya products and decided to construct a factory complex incorporating the state of the art technology for the mass scale of production of high quality spice mixture, pasta,pappadam etc.The new factory complex was commissioned in the year 2000 and the distribution network further widened throughout the island.Today we are one of the largest exporters of spices, food & beverage products from Sri Lanka to the world.At the moment more than 700 employees are working in the various departments of the organization. The secret behind the successful story of the company is the dedication and commitment of the management and the employees at all levels to manufacture highest quality products and market them at reasonable pricing.
